We are accepting 40 participants from across PEI who are passionate about making large-scale changes to help our environment.
The PEI Coalition for Women in Government is a nonpartisan organization that focuses on advancement of women’s leadership in the political and democratic life on PEI. Please note that while "women" is used a lot in this application, the Coalition's definition of a woman is an inclusive one, which includes trans women and cis women. The Coalition also works to include all genders that are marginalized and underrepresented in leadership. This includes empowering women in their fields to build leadership skills and better the lives of all islanders.
Our newest project, Empowering Women and Gender-Diverse Advocates for Climate Resiliency, will gather a group of individuals whose genders are currently underrepresented in leadership roles, who are interested in the climate to share knowledge, and learn how to advocate to every level of government on PEI. We will be developing a community of practice, with 5 training workshops that will allow participants to network, build advocacy skills, and feel empowered to take action.
We are looking for individuals who are dissatisfied with the status quo. Ideal participants are interested in learning about and making system level change. Previous experience is not necessary; we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Our ideal cohort includes a wide range of people, from those who have never undertaken advocacy projects to those with extensive experience, and everyone in between.
We are accepting 40 participants from across PEI who are passionate about making large-scale changes to help our environment. Applications will close August 16th, 2024, and applicants will be notified by/before September 1st, 2024. If selected, participants can expect travel, childcare, and dependent-care reimbursements. We are also happy to provide a letter to your school or employer explaining the value of your participation in our sessions, and a certificate will be issued to you upon completion.
